The Kindergarteners are celebrating Maya Angelou this month in the library by reading many of her poems.

We are learning about TABLEAU and acting out each line of her poem "Life Doesn't Frighten Me."

In turn we are learning about the paintings and inspiration of Jean-Michel Basquiat in the beautiful poetry picture book.

Kindergarteners learned about the life and art of Vasya Kandinsky from this Caldecott Award winning picture book biography.

Then created abstract art with oil pastels around the letters in their name. All while listening to classical music that Kandinsky listened to when he made his art.

The final products were quite astonishing! Bravo!

Kinders learn about Gordon Parks

Our kinders had the chance to make up their own magic words.... pretty funny stuff!
